Just 10 minutes drive onto the coastal road, the D940, from Calais is the sleepy village of Ambleteuse. This village is home to the Historical Museum of the Second World War (Musee Historique de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale). The museum was created 15 years ago by two passionate collectors: Denis Barbe and Christophe Deschodt who after 30 years of avid collecting, decided to place their thousands of exhibits into one place. On site they have used over 120 models to depict various periods of the war from the Polish campaign to the Japanese surrender.

There is also a 30 minute film to watch in a recreated 40 inch 1940s cinema.
